About Puss Puss CorsetsPuss Puss is the historically inspired corset label launched in New Zealand by designer and artist Jill Alexander of Nelson New ZealandShe has been manufacturing and selling elegant Edwardian inspired corsets since 2002 within her Madcat stores. These corsets are made in beautiful tapestry fabrics, some heavily embroidered with flowers. The label is now sold only from the Madcat Workshop in Nelson. Puss Puss corsets are individually made in 4 different historic styles, with 8 stock sizes and a made to measure service. The variety of fabrics, laces and embroidery is endless and you are helped every step of the way to make decisions. All our styles embrace tight lacing and are seductive and empowering for women to wear with a skirt for evening or bridal wear or with French knockers for night clubbing or the bedroom to make it a night to remember. Bespoke service.Jill is pleased to fulfill requests for the ultimate "one off" corsets. Just supply us with 1 metre of your fabric and we will make it into your corset This may be a bridal corset that you may wish to co-ordinate the fabric with the Groom's waist coat or the bridesmaids' dresses. If your fabric is not firm enough it will be mounted to make it suitable for corsetry. Any excess material will be returned to you. If there is a particular part of the print or pattern you wish to have as the centre piece this must be clearly stated when you supply the fabric.This bespoke service is charged the same as for fabrics we have supplied RIGHT OF RETURN POLICYIn the interests of hygiene we do not permit the return of intimate apparel products. |
Jill Alexander is one of New Zealand's more experienced designers with over 30 successful years in the fashion industry after graduating from St. Martins School of Art, London in 1977. She has been involved in major companies in England and as a fashion educator in New Zealand. History of costume from the Regency period till today is her specialty.Jill develops all her designs through drawing and draping on the stand. The shapes for her corset patterns are taken from historic references. Visits to costume museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the corsets first hand make these unique corsets quite different from any others.
Body shapes have dramatically changed over the centuries and Jill Alexander uses her years of experience fitting clothes to adapt the fit of these amazing corsets to today's womanly curves.
